Cabinet approves importing electric vehicles tariff-free for BOI projects

Tax department to overhaul revenue collection system
Sep 13 (ST) Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has been directed to put in place an efficient mechanism to accelerate the collection of taxes and held-over taxes amidst increasing tax defaults. 84% of rupee bonds held by superannuation funds to be restructured
Sep 13 (TM) About 84% of Treasury Bonds held by superannuation funds have agreed to exchange their rupee bonds for longer-term maturity bonds under Domestic Debt Optimisation (DDO) programme. Accordingly, out of the Rs.8.71 trillion worth of eligible Treasury Bonds, holders of Rs. 3.2 trillion (including the holders of the rupee bonds held by superannuation funds) have agreed to exchange their bonds for longer-term maturity bonds.

Sri Lanka remains open for both undersea, overhead lines with 120 km in length
Sep 13 (DM) In the establishment of power grid connectivity with India, SL remains open for either undersea cables or overhead lines, a top official of the CEB said. The evolution of the technical report is now in advanced stages, and the two countries are expected to finalize it in a week. Sep 13 (DM) Agriculture Ministry has decided to set up a third sour banana export processing factory at Muravesihena in Hambantota. Agriculture Minister Mahindra Amaraweera said arrangements have been made to start the third sour banana export processing zone covering Embilipitiya, Hambantota and Sewanagala by cultivating 800 acres at a cost of Rs. 65 million.
