Large scale weapons factory raided in Akuressa
May 23 (DM) A weapons manufacturing hideout in the Dediyagala area in Akuressa was raided by the Matara Division Anti-vice Squad where they found hundreds of half-built guns similar to T56 assault rifles. Tamil asylum seekers decry years in limbo

Fonseka cannot contest an election for seven years, says AG
May 23 (NF) Attorney General Eva Wanasundara says that Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka has been granted a conditional release.
