In a nutshell |
Dec 12 (ST) Double Standards: So the Professori made a most eloquent speech when the Country of Kings failed to honour the freedom of expression of our Presidente. To understand that and to set an example that we dont say what we mean and dont mean what we say. Both Jay Jay and Bah Hoo got their just desserts in the name of freedom of expression. Sauce for the goose is definitely not sauce for the gander in paradise land!

Reformists seek clout |
Dec 12 (NS) The stage is being set both literally and metaphorically for the crucial opposition UNP convention. When these words are being read, the convention should be underway, barring any unforeseen circumstances in the intervening period. Indeed, there was considerable interest as to whether the convention would be held at all, with speculation that a faction or an individual loyal to UNP and Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe would obtain an injunction against the meeting.

D-Day for the UNP |
Dec 12 (Island) As the debate on the budget for 2011 drew to a close, the Opposition, which should have been trying to capitalize on its shortcomings, was doing anything but that. As far as the country as a whole was concerned, last week was nothing but a week of red herrings, ironically, thrown across the trail by the main Opposition party itself, which seemed intent on deflecting attention from the main issue at hand.
