Five found guilty of Udathalawinna massacre acquitted

July 24 (LG) The five persons, sentenced to death over the killing of ten persons at Udathalawinna on December 5, 2001, were acquitted of all charges by the Supreme Court today. Sri Lanka power output down in May, diesel sales up

July 24 (LBO) Sri Lanka's electricity generation in May 2009 fell 3.6 percent to 834 million units (GigaWatt hours) from a year earlier, while diesel sales were up 22.2 percent, the latest government data showed. Suspect in rape & murder of girl killed by villagers

July 25 (CT) A youth who is believed to have raped and killed a 12-year-old girl has been beaten to death by a group in Ampara.
