Much to learn from the Tsunami clean-up experience |
Feb 20 (UCAN) Shanika Kumari was standing with her three children beside their tent in the camp that has been home since she lost everything to the massive tsunami waves on Dec. 26, 2004. Most people have moved on and the disaster is just a memory, but time stands still for the 45-year-old woman and her family. As I visited two refugee camps to see what the Catholic Church was doing to help the victims three years after the tsunami, I was struck by how real the horror remains for her and how little has been done to help her.
