Chicken prices soar: Canteen food prices to remain unchanged
May 31 (TM) The All Ceylon Canteen Owners� Association (ACCOA) said even though the price of poultry meat (chicken) has increased in the market, the price of canteen food will not be increased. ACCOA President, Asela Sampath said that with the unfair increase in the price of chicken, not only restaurants, but those taking orders for catering services and hotels too are in big trouble. �The price of chicken has increased more than the price of mutton.

Palm oil industry stakeholders urge govt. to lift ban on cultivation

BOI company fined Rs 10 Million over smuggled fags
May 31 (CT) The BOI registered company, which smuggled in a stock of cigarettes, by submitting false information to the Customs, was fined Rs 10 million. The fine was paid. The stock of 556,000 cigarettes worth Rs 85 million was confiscated. After completing the Customs investigation, related to the cigarettes, shown to the media on 11 May, the officials of the Revenue Inspection Division of the Sri Lanka Customs Department conducted investigation.
