Rail gate keepers to strike from today |
Oct 31 (ITN) The All Island unsafe Rail Gate Keepers Association says that they will launch a continuous strike from midnight today. They said that they would launch the strike as the Govt so far did not give the 5,000 rupee salary increment as promised. All Island Unsafe Rail Gate Keepers Association launched a strike in an earlier occasion as well. As a response the Govt agreed to grant them a salary increment. They said that the promised salary has not been given so far.

'We will turn to Interpol if Mahendran does not return' |
Oct 31 (DM) Govt will seek Interpol assistance in case former CB Governor, Arjuna Mahendran, does not return to Sri Lanka to support the investigations into CB bond issue, UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera said. �It was me who first made a complaint with the Bribery Commission against the bond scam. The fight against the bond issue culprits was carried out with the blessings of the President. However, we will not let anyone sweep this scam under the carpet,� he said.

Albino turtle�s body parts found in well |
Oct 31 (CT) A special team from the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) has been able to find the missing body parts of an albino turtle, which was reportedly gone missing in Dec 2013 from the Kosgoda Turtle Conservation Centre. The body parts were found inside a dilapidated well in the Dikwella area on Oct 29. The Police was tipped off by one of the suspects, who had been arrested. The suspect had confessed to the Police that after stealing the albino turtle, it was shown to a provincial politician.
