July 31 (CT) The govt will not permit Sri Lankans losing out on job opportunities created by bilateral economic/trade agreements including the Economic and Technology Cooperative Agreement (ETCA) which is expected to be signed this year with India, Minister Faiszer Musthapha said. July 31 (EN) Sri Lanka's imports rose 0.3% from a year earlier to US$ 1,590 million in May 2016, exports fell 12% to US$ 776 million, data showed. The trade deficit expanded 15.7% from a year earlier to US$ 814 million in May. In the five months to May, imports were down 2.8% to US$ 7,645 million, exports were down 6% to US$ 4,211 million.
