Karu permits debate on Avant Garde floating armoury against objections
Nov 5 (Island) Speaker Karu Jayasuriya overruled objections raised by the Govt against JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake moving a motion for a debate on the Avant Garde floating armoury at the time of adjournment of the House. When JVP leader got up to move the motion, Minister Lakshman Kiriella raising a point of order said that the matter was sub judice and could not be debated in the House. Maldives arrests Sri Lankan sniper after weapons bust
Nov 5 (Haveeru) Police have arrested a Sri Lankan sniper from the Maldives days after a sniper rifle bullet was found in the biggest weapons bust in the country's recent history. Sri Lankan maid stabbed to death in Kuwait
Nov 5 (AD) A Sri Lankan housemaid was stabbed to death by a 27 years old Citizen in Umm Al- Hayman area this morning, Kuwaiti media reported. The father of the suspect had called police, saying that his son killed the maid and then he escaped to an unknown area. Later, he was arrested by Ahmadi detectives. University students volunteer in Sri Lanka
Nov 5 (LSJ) Two psychology students from the University of Lincoln have returned from Sri Lanka after completing a mental health placement. Laura White and Kiara Jackson found difficulty in applying for a Clinical Psychology Doctorate, as fewer than 4% of applicants are successful, so they decided to travel to get the experience they needed. Trip was organised by SL Volunteers, which was founded in 2010 by Psychology graduates and focuses on helping develop mental health care in SL.
