Sharp drop in crime rate: Police spokesman

Dec 12 (Island) Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana denied media reports of a crime wave. There had in fact been a sharp drop in grave crimes since 2004, he claimed. Sri Lanka imports rise sharply as exports fall

Dec 12 (EN) Sri Lankan imports rose 25.6% to US$ 1,750 million in Oct 2014 from a year ago, driven by higher spending on fuel and vehicles as exports slumped, widening the trade gap, Central Bank data showed.
